Terms of Service
Last updated: August 9, 2026
These Terms govern your use of markdown.money (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
1. What the Service is — and isn't
markdown.money is a cash projection and planning tool. It simulates your future balances from the accounts, bills, and transactions you provide.
- Not financial advice. Projections, assistant answers, and any other output are informational planning aids, not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Verify important numbers against your actual bank before making decisions.
- Projections are estimates. They depend entirely on the data you enter and the assumptions you set. Real balances will differ.
- AI output can be wrong. The "Money" assistant and AI statement extraction use large language models, which can make mistakes — including about numbers. Review imported transactions and treat assistant answers as a starting point, not a guarantee.
2. Your account
- You must provide a valid email address and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
- You must be at least 16 years old.
- One person per account. Households are the sharing mechanism — inviting a member gives them full read/write access to the household's plan.
3. Your data and our license to it
You own the data you put into the Service. You grant us a limited license to store and process it solely to operate the Service — including sending relevant portions to our processors (Anthropic for AI features, Whop for billing, Replit for hosting, SimpleFIN for bank sync) when you use those features. We claim no other rights to your data.
4. Pro subscriptions and billing
- Pro is a paid subscription that unlocks the "Money" assistant and related features. Pricing is shown at checkout.
- Payments are processed by Whop on their hosted checkout; Whop's terms apply to the payment itself. We never handle your card details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. You can cancel from Settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep Pro access until then.
- Refunds are handled case-by-case through Whop's processes unless required otherwise by law.
- The Pro email on your Whop membership must match your markdown.money account email — that's how access is granted.
5. Fair use
To keep the Service affordable and reliable for everyone, you agree not to:
- Probe, breach, or circumvent security or rate limits (assistant questions are limited per hour and per day).
- Use automated scripts to bulk-query the AI assistant or import endpoints.
- Reverse engineer, resell, or white-label the Service without permission.
- Upload content that is unlawful or that you lack the right to process (e.g., someone else's bank statements without authorization).
- Use the Service to launder money or plan unlawful activity.
6. Bank sync
Bank sync uses SimpleFIN's read-only protocol. You are responsible for your relationship with your SimpleFIN provider and your bank. Sync is provided as-is; banks and bridges can return delayed or incomplete data, and you should review synced transactions before relying on them.
7. Availability and changes
We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may change, add, or remove features. If we discontinue the Service or materially reduce a paid feature, we will give reasonable notice, and you can export your data as JSON at any time from Settings.
8. Termination
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings; deletion is permanent.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the Service, or create legal risk — with notice where practicable.
9. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of projections or AI output. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including financial decisions made in reliance on projections or assistant answers.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes we will update the date above and surface the change in the product before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.
